Scrap Gold Value Calculator

How much is your gold worth?

Well, you can find out easily here, with my scrap gold value calculator.

A Note on Karats

The relationship between karats and the purity percentage of gold is a straightforward yet essential concept in understanding gold quality.

Karats are a measure of the purity of gold. Pure gold is defined as 24 karats, symbolizing 100% purity, often referred to as 999 fine gold. This designation implies that the material is 99.9% pure gold. When gold is of a lower karat, such as 14 or 18 karats, it signifies a certain ratio of gold to other metals in the alloy.

This ratio is calculated by dividing the number of karats by 24. For instance, 18-karat gold is calculated as 18/24, equating to 75% gold purity, which is commonly expressed as .750. This system allows for an easy understanding of the gold content in various items, providing a clear indication of their value and quality.
